Issue #1 Feedback, Anyone?

Veganarchy Readers:

Now that our first issue of the zine has been out and available for a few weeks, we hope you’ll offer us your feedback.

  • What did you like about issue #1? What didn’t you like?
  • How was the length? Was the issue too long or too short?
  • What did you think about the mix of content (i.e. ratio of articles to recipes to other types, etc.)?
  • Any other thoughts you’d like to share with us?

Feel free to leave feedback on this post via Tumblr’s Question/Answer system, or by leaving a regular comment on this post via Disqus.

A note about printed copies: due to the issue of pricy shipping costs, we are only able to snail-mail printed copies to subscribers within the United States and Canada unless you donated to the zine. Sorry. :-(

If u asked for a print copy of the zine to be mailed to u, we sent them out 2day! Some of u will also receive emails with special notes.

Veganarchy Issue #1 - Summer 2009

It’s finally here! The finishing touches have been added to the zine, and it is now ripe and ready for your gleeful vegan consumption.

Special thanks go out to the following contributors for this inaugural issue of the zine:

  • Dee Allen
  • Jenna and Bob Torres
  • Elizabeth Fiend

There are three ways for you to enjoy the zine.

1. Paper version: As always, you can send us an email with “Zine Please” in the subject line requesting we snailmail you a [free] paper copy. Make sure to include your mailing address in the message body if you choose to go this route. We’re still working on labeling printed zines and mailing them out to those of you who have already requested one, so hang tight!

If you know of any sweet vegan or anarchist establishments that you think the zine would feel welcomed at, feel free to request a stack of them and we’ll mail them out to you for distribution.

You can also choose to download the zine in one of two .pdf versions. Click the links below to download:

2. Print version: If you plan to print the zine out on paper so you have a hard copy of it, this is the version for you. The .pdf is formated for printing on 6 double-sided pieces of paper folded in half.

3. Read version: If you simply plan to download the zine and read it on your computer without printing it out, this is the version for you. The pages are in chronological order and all links are clickable.

Enjoy, and please consider donating (see the site’s sidebar) or visiting the Veganarchy Store.

If you have anything you’ve created that you would like to be considered for inclusion in the next issue of the zine, you are in luck! Simply send it to us with the phrase “Zine Submission” in the subject line.

It is important that this phrase be included in the subject line because of the filters we use in our email. We don’t want to miss considering your submission simply because it didn’t end up in the correct spot in our inbox!

Zine Please!

Hello my wonderful Veganarchy readers!

The publication date for the Summer 2009 issue of Veganarchy has been moved forward a few weeks, but things are looking good and soon enough we’ll be finished.

If you would like a free copy of this issue, all you have to do is the following:

  • Send an email to total.veganarchy@gmail.com with the exact phrase “Zine Please” in the subject line (don’t include the quotation marks).
  • This email should include your name and the mailing address you’d like us to send the zine to.
  • Consider donating a buck or two (or more!) via the PayPal link in the sidebar to cover the postage and printing fees. (Optional!)
  • Wait for zine to arrive in the mail.
  • That’s it! No need for self addressed envelopes, or pesky postage stamps.

It has been a pleasure compiling and editing this first issue of the zine. We had many many submissions that we weren’t able to fit into this issue, but there’s good news! We accept submissions on a continual basis, so if there’s something you think would be a good addition to the next issue, feel free to send it to us at any time. You never know—your piece might end up in the next issue.

Thanks so much for the support and interest. Without you this humble publication would be nowhere.

“Only a perspective and lifestyle based on true compassion can destroy the oppressive constructs of present society and begin anew in creating desirable relationships and realities. This, to me, is the essence of anarchy. No one who fails to embrace all struggles against oppression as her or his own fits my definition of an anarchist. That may seem like a lot to ask, but I will never stop asking it of every human being.”
